Getting the Word Out
Any Marketing Manager worth his or her salt knows that one crucial component to a successful marketing campaign is a strong PR program. And the cornerstone of any PR program is a well-written press release.
Our approach to writing press releases is to clearly convey your company's or organization's message as succinctly as possible. Experts agree that with the technology available to us, press releases should be eye-catching. They also agree that brevity is important - the most-read releases should be a single page, and your main point should be stated as early as possible.
What's News?
Some of the kinds of things press releases are used for:
- Business Announcement. Tell the world generally what you do and why you're better than the competition. Generally used to announce a business publicly for the first time.
- Changes in service or product lines. Get the word out that you now carry XYZ brand widgets, or that you've increased your service area to other cities, states, provinces, or countries. Closing, relocating or opening an office? Tell the world in a press release.
- Strategic alliances. Unless you're IBM, AT&T or Nortel, nobody cares about that new director of sales you hired. But if you've suddenly become ISO or EPA approved, that's news.
- Extraordinary accomplishments. The press probably doesn't care if you made your sales goals for the year, but if your company solved the problem with gas leaks at the local school, or developed a better way to recycle tires, or raised enough money to save a historical landmark, let's tell the story. It may get you attention you'd never normally get by word of mouth.
Years of experience in marketing and technical writing give us the flair to write a press release that gets your message across clearly and quickly, but in a persuasive and appealing manner. To this effect we'll incorporate your company's look in the release, add any important illustrations or diagrams necessary to explain or enhance your announcement, and create several versions of the release: MS Word, plain text, and Adobe PDF. With these versions, you're ready to start handing out, faxing, mailing, and emailing press releases to the media.
Integrated Marketing
One of the most successful marketing concepts is Integrated Marketing. Let us dovetail your press release with your direct mail, trade show appearances, and of course your web site. We'll carry over the same look-and-feel to help brand your company in the public's mind. Posting your press releases on yoru web site is a part of all of our Web Care packages.
Public Relations
Or maybe you're not quite so motivated. In that case, let us take over your PR campaign. We'll contact any local media (TV, radio, print, and web) outlets on your behalf. We'll arrange meetings (if applicable) with interested parties to learn more about your products and services. The ultimate reward of a PR program is to get your name in the media as often as possible, and at the lowest cost to you. Major companies hire professional agencies or employees to do PR at a rate of $50,000-75,000 per year to do the same. Our service is priced to suit the smaller business, but with the same quality and experience as an agency.
Why does this cost you less? Because as a Small or Medium Enterprise (SME) you're probably linked to a geographical area or niche market, and the number of relevant media outlets are far less than if you were Microsoft announcing the newest version of Windows. So we won't tell Newsweek that your Glass Replacement business just opened a new shop downtown. But we will tell the local newspapers, TV and radio stations, and any approrpiate trade magazines.
Focused PR = Less Time one the Phone = Lower Cost to you.
